Working out with your partner is not only fun but can motivate you to work harder. And the fitness scene in Calgary offers plenty of outdoor or indoor options to get your heart rate up. From acro yoga to running, here are five options to workout with your partner in Calgary.

Lagree YYC

Every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Britannia location of Lagree YYC is Date Night, where you two can take class for the price of one, which is $29 ($14.50/participant). A favourite of Michelle Obama and Meghan Markle, Lagree is a challenging full-body, 45-minute workout done on the Megaformer that tones you up fast. While challenging, Lagree is extremely low-impact and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace. You’ll also need socks with grips on the bottom, which are available to purchase at the studio. Lagree YYC Britannia is also located across from Village Ice Cream for some post-sweat treats.

Acro Yoga Calgary

This meetup group welcomes those new or experienced in Acro Yoga to explore or learn more about this practice. While encouraging balance and strength, Acro Yoga can be modified to fit a variety of fitness levels, making it particularly appealing for partners with different level of experience with yoga. And when it is nice outside, the meetup group takes their practice to the park. The meetup group also posts about workshops and classes for those looking to hone their skills even more. Bring your own mat and towel and prepare to fall a few times.

Undrcard Boxing Studio

If your partner has never been to this studio before, you can bring them for free to the 9:30 a.m. classes offered Monday to Friday. With its motto being “fight club meets night club” Undrcard brings a full body boxing workout without the risk of getting punched in the face. Classes are 50-minutes long and the instructors review boxing techniques in each class to help beginners while giving a refresher to the regulars. You’ll need hand wraps (available for purchase at the studio) as well as boxing gloves (included in the price of drop-in). Not sweaty enough? There is a ring and a gym upstairs to get more practice before or after your class.

CrushCamp

The first studio to offer training on the SkillMill, a non-motorized treadmill which is controlled by how fast you run, CrushCamp also offers personal training for two. CrushCamp’s personal training sessions start with a personalized fitness and composition test to determine your goals. You can complement your personal training sessions with their signature class – a 50 minute, high intensity interval training (HIIT) on the SkillMill that is different every time you take a class.

Running trails

Not looking for a studio? Running with a partner is one the best ways to spend quality time together while getting your heart rate up. And luckily, Calgary is home to a number of world-class trails. Running with a partner can also let you explore areas where you might be hesitant to go alone or keep you accountable to run faster and further than you normally would. From Memorial Stairs to Nosehill, Calgary offers plenty of options for those looking for an endorphin high.
